Project Synopsis

This is a turnkey automation, electrical and system installation project for Robotic Hemming cells. The PLC sequences all the operations of the Robot as well as the pneumatics. There are two identical cells with two turntables and one robot which hemms 3 doors. The cell is completely controlled by the PLC system – Robot acts as a slave for executing the Hemming Passes. Devicenet is used for data transaction with the devices on rotating table. Phoenix Devicenet inline modules communicating with the Flex Logix processor are used for remote IOs placed at the Rotating table. PLC communicates with ABB robot controller (IRC-5) on Devicenet. Festo valve banks connected with phoenix remote output modules (CPV) are used for actuating the clamps and suction cups. A mechanical fence is provided around the robot with a safety door to avoid accidents and for human safety.
